Eco Friendly Yarn

In recent years, there has been a growing interest in sustainable and environmentally friendly materials, including yarn. The yarns I use are all eco-friendly and kind to the planet.

These are the yarns that you might well be using for your projects!

Organic Cotton

Organic cotton is a type of cotton which is grown without the use of synthetic pesticides and fertilisers.

The production of organic cotton uses practices that are far more sustainable and have less of an environmental impact than conventional cotton which uses a lot of water in its production.

Organic cotton is extremely soft and breathable, making it perfect for the most delicate of skins. It is an ideal choice for no needles knitting projects for all ages.

Plant Based Yarn

Many of us are looking for ways to reduce our carbon footprint.  Plant based yarns are becoming more and more popular because of their eco-friendly and sustainable nature.

Plant based yarns are derived from organic and natural sources such as linen, bamboo and lyocell.

The production processes for these yarns requires far less energy compared to synthetic yarns, leading to a lower carbon footprint for the end fibre.

My T-shirt yarn choices
Recycled Yarn

T-shirt yarn  is exactly as it says, yarn that has been made from t-shirts that would otherwise have been disposed of in landfill.

This type of yarn is extremely elastic and is perfect for fun accessories.  It is also soft on the skin.

This the main type of yarn I use for finger and arm knitting my creations.

Recycled bottles yarn is another yarn I use for big no needles knitting impact. It is so soft and squishy!

If you want to know how long yarns take to biodegrade, read on! The timings are shocking!
